Fortune 500 Financial Services Firm

Enterprise Intranet Redesign

Rebuilt a legacy SharePoint intranet serving 5,000+ employees — modernizing the UX, consolidating 200+ sites, and cutting page load times in half.

SPFx React TypeScript Azure DevOps Power Automate SharePoint Online

Key Outcomes

  • Reduced average page load time from 8s to 3.2s
  • Consolidated 200+ legacy sites into a single governed platform
  • Increased daily active users by 43% within 90 days of launch
  • Zero downtime migration for 5,000+ concurrent users

The Challenge

A major financial services firm had accumulated 200+ SharePoint sites over a decade. Content was siloed, the search experience was broken, and the IT team spent 30% of their time managing duplicate sites and permissions.

The Approach

Rather than a simple lift-and-shift, we treated this as a platform modernization:

Phase 1 — Discovery (4 weeks) Audited all 200+ sites, identified the 20 core workflows that drove 80% of employee interactions, and mapped information architecture to business units.

Phase 2 — Platform Design (6 weeks) Designed a hub-and-spoke architecture using SharePoint hub sites. Built a custom SPFx component library with 18 reusable web parts that covered all identified use cases.

Phase 3 — Migration (12 weeks) Automated content migration using PnP PowerShell and Power Automate. Ran parallel environments during the transition period to ensure zero disruption.

Technical Highlights

The custom web part library was the most complex deliverable — each component needed to work across Classic and Modern SharePoint, support both dark and light theming, and be fully configurable via property panes without developer involvement.

We used Azure DevOps pipelines for automated testing and deployment across dev/staging/prod tenant environments.

Results

The project delivered well ahead of the 6-month timeline and under budget. The consolidated platform is now used as an internal template for the firm’s global subsidiaries.
